As 2021 begins, I am optimistic about the year ahead despite the evident challenges in front of all of us.

As 2020 comes to a close, my hope is that we are emerging from a dark and cold tunnel into the warm light.

Election officials, workers, and voters heroically showed the civic backbone at the heart of our democracy. Our country, all of us, should be very proud of this tremendous achievement.

Our trip by camper took us 4000 miles across the interior of the United States: Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, and back to Texas. We grew as individuals and as a family.

I stood alone in the desert quiet at dusk staring at the awesome vast chasm in front of me, the confluence of the Green River and what was once known as the Grand River, now called the Colorado River.

In the midst of a spreading global pandemic, following a roller-coaster period in financial markets, our family departed our beloved nature preserve for a summer vacation road trip in our new 2020 Taxa Mantis camper.
