Scammers on the Rise

FIDELITY TRUSTED

Fidelity is recording an increase in fraudulent money requests taking form in wire fraud, identity theft, and email scams.

Cybercriminals are taking advantage of the Coronavirus vulnerability by phishing emails and even text messages. These messages come from what appears to be a legitimate sender who requests personal information. If you are not sure whether a request is legitimate or not, always contact the source directly from the phone numbers found on reliable websites and not through the message itself.

Another popular cyberattack is the hacking of personal email accounts to send messages to third parties where they will request money transfers to odd accounts. To avoid these types of fraudulent transfers, it is important for clients to request money transfers verbally from a trusted phone number and not rely on email.

Please be sure to update your login credentials regularly using strong passwords and use 2-step authentications wherever possible.
