Against Violence

Stopping violence in the world around us often requires first looking within.

New Capital stands against violence.  Violence destroys capital, whether that is financial capital, infrastructure capital, natural capital, or especially, human capital.  Violence is, therefore, extraordinarily costly.

The world is awash in violence.  We are even awash in it here in the United States, where deadly violence is a regular, daily occurrence.  When we become numb to violence because of its prevalence, violence will probably continue, or even increase.

Those who initiate violence, whether through greed, hatred, or delusion, should be stopped.

Stopping violence in the world around us often requires first looking within, and identifying, with an open mind and heart, if we ourselves may be carrying around greed, or hatred, or delusion.  If there is greed, it may be at the expense of the poor and the weak; if there is hatred, it may be at the expense of the few and the brave; and if there is delusion it may be at the expense of the honest and the wise.

Once we can eliminate, or at least substantially reduce greed, hatred, and delusion within, then we are ready to help to stop violence outside of ourselves, by being the people we have become, compassionate and wise.

In the meantime, our hearts ache for the people of Israel.

And also for the people of Palestine.

For the people of Ukraine.

Of Russia.

Iran.

Venezuela.

Afghanistan.

And Mexico.

For the people of the United States.

For all people who suffer, wherever they may be:

May all beings, near and far, be safe and protected and free from inner and outer harm.

May all beings, near and far, be happy and content.

May all beings, near and far, be healthy and whole to whatever degree possible.

And may all beings, near and far, experience ease and well-being.

-Loving Kindness Meditation

Our annual conference will be held on October 26 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.  This year’s conference will be our ninth, and with each one we get better at all aspects of this most important annual event.

If you have not yet attended our conference, and you can take the time to do so this year, I hope you will.  Meera Pandit, global strategist of JP Morgan will offer her views; I will discuss market conditions and valuations, and also the single most important formula in all of finance; Tonya Knauth and Kevin Horner will take a deep dive into power of attorney and the impending sunset of current estate tax thresholds; and as always our entire team will bring you up to date on new and existing initiatives at New Capital.

To register, just follow this Link.
