On the morning of August 14, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti, causing widespread destruction. The death toll is expected to continue to rise in the coming days. Haiti is still reeling from the recent assassination of President Jovenel Moïse on July 7. Rain from Tropical Storm Grace stands to hinder relief efforts with potential flooding and landslides. Many people will be completely exposed to the elements, with their homes destroyed or unsafe to take refuge in. COVID-19 adds an additional risk to recovery efforts.
