Find Your Love

We love to help you discover what you love to do, how to do it, when to do it, with whom to do it, and how to finance it.

On Wednesday, the United States inaugurated its 46th President.  My colleagues and I were only able to catch a small part of it because we were busy working for you that day: emails, phone calls, trades, money transfers, meetings, and much other miscellany, a day like most others.  Over the last four years, that is what we have tried to do to show our democratic spirit: show up for work each day, and work hard and honestly for others in the hope that our own needs for ourselves and our families would be rewarded in time.  And that is exactly what we did.

With most asset values, especially in stocks and bonds, now on the higher side, I believe that hard work is now the best way to yet further enhance the value of your investments.  There is much work to be done in the United States and in the world, much of it too long delayed, to address challenges and seize opportunities, and it will take people everywhere deciding to pitch in and help out.

Whether in infrastructure repair and expansion, in energy systems conversions, in environmental remediation, in transit system improvements, in urban center renewal, in rural revival, in pandemic preparedness, in broadband expansion, in education, in mental health services for all, in criminal justice reform, in eliminating the scourge of racism, in democratic reforms in government, and in so much more, our planet is only beginning to scratch the surface of what is possible to create a just, equitable, and beautiful world.  If we achieve this, together, I can almost assure that the value of your investments will grow over time (although I make no promises or guarantees, as regulatory disclosures, appropriately, require me to make!).

I am expecting that in the years ahead, we will all witness new businesses, technologies, ideas, and approaches - i.e., new capital - as well as revitalized people, places, and companies.  It is truly an exciting time, and I will continue to make sure that New Capital has great and trustworthy people, concepts, technology, and business partners to provide to you.

I highlight remarks that Jeff Bezos made at a non-profit gala in 2018:

When you have a gift and then you work hard, you’re really going to leverage that gift.  Pursuing your passion is going to make it easier for you to make that choice to work hard.  You’ll get to work with like-minded people and you’re going to energize the room.  If you’re doing something you love, the day is going to be so fun.  You’ve gotta figure out what you love, and it’s going to bring you great joy.

We know what we love to do at New Capital:

We love to help you discover what you love to do, how to do it, when to do it, with whom to do it, and how to finance it

We very much look forward to helping you find your own loves in the exciting years ahead.
